The 16th Nordic Environmental Social Science Conference, hosted by Åbo Akademi University in cooperation with the University of Turku, Finland, calls scholars for meeting and discussing current challenges related to environmental social science. The theme of the conference in Turku is Co-producing knowledge for sustainability.
While the plenary sessions focus on the conference theme, the workshops coordinated by scholars can cover various aspects of environmental social science, from the local to the global and from empirical papers over policy-relevant papers to conceptual and theoretical contributions. As is the tradition of NESS, the workshops are at the center of the conference, with plenty of time devoted to presentation and discussion of submitted papers. The workshops can convene throughout the conference.
We invite convenors to submit a proposal for a workshop theme.
Each workshop should have 1-3 convenors. The tasks of the convenors include accepting/rejecting the papers submitted to the workshop as a response to the call for papers, coordinating the paper distribution, designating the paper opponents prior to the conference, and chairing the workshop sessions during the conference.
We invite proposals of maximum of 400 words. These should include the following:
- The title of the workshop
- The names and contact information of the convenors
- A short description of the workshop with background, aims and the kinds of papers invited to be submitted (These descriptions will be used to call for papers on the theme)
The deadline for the submission of the workshop proposal is 11 August 2023. Decision on acceptance of the workshop proposal will be communicated by 30 September 2023. Call for papers will be opened on 15 October 2023.
